We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Quality Assurance Officer to join the research group of Prof Judy Breuer and Dr David Lowe at the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health at UCL, within the Section of Infection, Immunology and Inflammation (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/child-health/research/infection-immunity-inflammation/molecular-and-cellular-immunology). The post will be part of the Sotrovimab Covid-19 Study. Sotrovimab is a monoclonal antibody directed against the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Sotrovimab has received conditional license for use as first line treatment in certain outpatients with underlying immunodeficiency. The drug will be administered through NHS England hubs to up to 1000 patients. The Lunar study is a post-licensure study to evaluate the potential emergence of sotrovimab driven mutations in the spike protein that reduce the drug efficacy. Patients will be followed for 28 days to 3 months depending on need and samples taken for processing through the diagnostic virology lab at GOSH and pathogen sequencing unit.

The post holder will be required to liaise closely with the GSK, Syneos, (the clinical trial facility running the study) patient recruitment centres and the laboratories to ensure smooth running of the trial. The post will be responsible for implementing the audit and quality checks covering the receipt and processing of samples. He/she will work with the database manager to provide reports to the company running the study detailing any protocol deviations and non- compliances in the laboratory. The position requires someone with a laboratory background but with interest and experience of quality management. Full training for the requirements of the study will be provided. The post-holder will be part of a small team that interact to manage the unit’s quality system activities both in ICH and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The candidate will have experience of data entry and using databases, understanding of data protection principles, experience of handling sensitive personal/medical data and handling large quantities of data. Knowledge of the different phases of clinical trials, as well as the design and aims of each phase, experience in trial closure and archiving requirements, understanding of key clinical trial terminology, experience in clinical trials work and experience of working to Good Clinical Practice guidelines are essential for grade 7 post.
